Shadow's Day Away

I dropped Shadow kitty off at a neutering clinic.
Shadow, the saddest cat I have ever known.
All the way home,
with Shadow on my mind,
I searched through emotions
for the poetry in Shadow's plight.
And when I arrived back at our house
there, four other cats were looking at me
wanting to know why;
and what had become of Shadow?

While we wait on Shadow’s return,
Avery, Alex, Ming, Yoda and I
are searching for a way
to write our worry away.
